Integration of inorganic data from ICSD into CellCheckCSD

Big news for crystallography and materials science! The Inorganic Crystal Structure Database (ICSD) now contains more than 300,000 entries – with around 280,000 unique structures not found in the CSD. 

The integration of ICSD data into the CellCheckCSD tool is a real game-changer:

• Enables quick checks of whether a structure is already known – right at an early stage of determination.
• Saves time by avoiding redundant redeterminations of known compounds.
• Extends the use of CellCheckCSD beyond organic and organometallic chemistry to materials chemists, mineralogists, and solid-state researchers.
• Supports interdisciplinary research (e.g. battery and solar cell research) with one unified search across organic, organometallic, and inorganic chemistry. 

This step not only strengthens the standardization of crystallographic procedures, but also provides the scientific community with a more powerful and efficient tool for discovery.
